I got to see one of my favorite bands (and one I believe to be severely underrated) The Dangerous Summer last night in Santa Ana, CA. Before I tell you a story about the band, make sure you check out both openers The Band Camino and Microwave. The Band Camino are a new band that's growing quickly and Microwave has been a band that's put out 2 killer full lengths. Do yourself a favor and rock both.
I've been a fan of every record The Dangerous Summer has put out over the last 10 years and they've always delivered a live show to match the emotion and intensity of their songs. The lyrics hit hard at various points in your life and take on new meaning the more you grow alongside them. Every fan was devastated when the band announced their hiatus in 2013. Again, they had never released bad music so it was a bummer to lose a band with that kind of consistency and heart.
In early 2017, I received a random message from AJ Perdomo who was the singer of TDS asking if I had any producer ideas if they were to make new music. I was so stoked but the catch was that no one could find out. That was a tough secret to celebrate by myself for 6 months until they made the record and dropped the news. I work with an incredible producer named James Paul Wisner who's made legendary records with Underoath, Further Seems Forever, Dashboard Confessional, Paramore, Academy Is, Gatsbys American Dream and literally so many more. I suggested that AJ and James get to know each other because I know the history of both parties would feel right. All felt right and on they went to make their self titled reunion/comeback record we all now know and love. I'm thankful that it feels like it all worked out how it was supposed to. It was an honor to play a super tiny role in ensuring the comeback was done properly and the band was able to see their vision through. Judging by the sold out show last night and shows throughout their current tour, I'm not the only one stoked to have them back.
Welcome back boys and thank you. Here's to 10 more records.
-Johnny
Here's AJ and James at the Orlando show a few weeks back.

While growing up in Chicago, I was always fascinated with California culture. Whether it was being obsessed with skate videos and all the incredible skate spots or the punk bands I grew up listening to (and trying to copy their fashion choices), there was always something inspiring about it. After years and years of watching the AGENDA trade show recaps by Bobby Hundreds, I always looked forward to getting deeper into that culture. Since moving to Southern California at the end of 2016, I've been fortunate enough to attend AGENDA twice and ComplexCon once. There is no better melting pot of culture than those two events. Walking around AGENDA seeing all of the monster brands that have been around forever and are still dominating and growing somehow side by side with brand new upstart companies just starting to dip their toe into the pool is a very inspiring feeling. If I took away one general feeling from the event it was along the lines of do whatever makes you happy and forget the rest. Success comes from authenticity and believing in your mission wholeheartedly and that's something you could feel all around the trade show. Props to everyone out there doing exactly what they want and making some noise. Shout out to our dude Reilly and his brand Learn To Forget. They just dropped their new line and it's dope!
Our dude Andrew Cramb documented the day so I'll leave you with photos he took around the show! Thank you to Christine Warren for taking care of us!

First off, we'd like to say thank you. Thank you for your time, your eyes and ears. Thank you for your support and your help with our mission to spread positivity. The purpose of this brand is to have more people find their inspiration, follow their dreams, remind them that they're not alone in their journey and most importantly, find any sort of happiness boost. Leaving any situation better than when you found it is something we can all strive for and we hope to be a foot note in anyone's journey.
For this line, we sent ideas to 2 long time friends to get the ideas drawn and designed. The Dreams Never Sleep design was done by Eric Ryan who designed every Snakes & Suits (RIP) item ever. It was a special one for us to link back up and create something new (destroy old). The rest of the line was done by Nick Santino! He was in killer bands A Rocket To The Moon and Beach Weather. We couldn't be more excited to share their work with you and take the next step with Good Future Club. Also, thank you to our dude Andrew Cramb for taking all the photos for the line again as well! We hope you love the line as much as we do. Spread the love and positivity to everyone you know.

2017 was a killer year for music. In the process of compiling the records that I listened to and enjoyed the most, I always find it fascinating to hear what friends felt were the best of the year as well. I figured I'd compile the lists they sent over and post them all here in hopes everyone can find some new music (or whatever was posted by each person!). Do yourself a favor and check out as much new stuff as your time allows and tell us some of your favorites as well! Thanks for your eyes and ears.
PS - For those asking, yes we've been teasing pieces from our new line on our Instagram and I promise it'll be here before the end of the year. Keep your eyes on our Instagram stories for sneaks.
PPS - We have a Good Future Club Spotify playlist that we update with 30 songs every Tuesday morning. If you're looking for some new stuff, we post a bunch of brand new songs, classic bangers from bands we love and a handful of unsigned bands mixed in. Follow that here: Spotify playlist
Johnny Minardi - Good Future Club/Fueled By Ramen/Roadrunner Records - @johnnyminardi
I'm going with my top 11 coolest things of 2017, be it music, movies, pop culture or anything in between!
1) Brand New - Science Fiction. - I've been waiting a long time for more Brand New. For them to drop it as a surprise release and have it be so good is all I ever wanted.
2) blackbear - digital druglord - Took a second to grow on me. Now there's not a single track I don't love!
3) familypet - This band is going to do huge things. You just wait.
4) Baby Driver - Movie was all around sick! Cinematography was on point. Great story. Amazing soundtrack. Super dope.
5) Cryptocurrency - Regardless of your stance, or involvement with - it made some huge waves! There's no way we don't all look back at 2017 as old people and say "I remember when Bitcoin _____ (insert story of exponential growth and wealth or tragic shortcoming here) either way it'll be talked about!
6) IT - Few things about this gem of a film. 1) Felt like a perfectly done remake of a film, which IMO hasn't been done in a long time. 2) I got to see it with the man behind Good Future Club himself, Mr. Johnny Minardi. 3) They recreated the Neibolt House in Hollywood to promote the movie and it was fucking dope!
7) Short Story Long - I promise you there's nothing more inspiring than this podcast. I love it!
8) Chick-Fil-A - My favorite restaurant of the year. To that, you may say I have no class. Well, you're right - I don't. BUT THEM SAMMICHES ARE STILL GOOD AF!
9) Porsche GT3 Touring. - My favorite car of 2017! Porsche released the 911R in 2016 in extremely limited quantities. Everyone started selling them for too much money and Porsche didn't like it. So this year they dropped essentially the same magical car in slightly higher production numbers.
10) The Hundreds x Carrots Collab - I'm not deeply rooted in streetwear, but I respect the hell out of the people behind these brands. It's rad to see them do something so cool together!
11) Oliver Francis - A Million Miles An Hour - I really believe in this dude. No one does it quite like him. The perfect example of a DIY artist / genuine person who put endless work in and built something amazing. Listen to Aeou it's rad!
1. Lovely Little Lonely - The Maine 2. After Laughter - Paramore 3. Dead Reflection - Silverstein 4. Always Lose - The Gospel Youth 5. After The Party - The Menzingers 6. Fail You Again - Can't Swim 7. Where The Mind Wants To Go / Where You Let It Go - I The Mighty 8. Adornment - Grayscale 9. Tell Me You Love Me - Demi Lovato 10. The Search For Everything - John Mayer
Some Excellent EP's: Different Places - High Wire Ritual - Envy On The Coast Nothing Here Is Permanent - Bearings Symmetry - 7 Minutes in Heaven
Weird dishonorable mention : Science Fiction - Brand New It's fantastic, would be top 3. But I still haven't been able to listen to them since. Maybe someday. Nothing has shaped my musical DNA more than Brand New & I'm still processing how I feel about it.
