Good Future Club

We're so stoked to be able to premiere the new music video for our Chicago boys Davlin! These guys have been long time supporters of everything Good Future Club and write some real rippers! For this tune, they tapped our mutual friend Anthony DeMario from Capstan. Do yourself a favor and listen to both band's recent EPs.

This is the Spent, the new music video from Chicago-based post-hardcore/emo band Davlin. It is taken from their second EP, A Lifetime Spent in Gray, and features Capstan’s Anthony DeMario. The video was co-directed by Eric Elkin and Alex Zarek - Elkin capturing the performance aspect whilst Zarek handled the narrative aspects and editing.

Guitarist and vocalist Alex Zarek describes the video’s narrative imagery as a ‘visual representation of the mundane, repetitive nature that exists within the struggles of everyday life.’

“The gray seasons of our lives often last long enough to create a hazy fog that distorts and effects the things we hold close. That abstraction of our emotions can make those stretches of time feel like a blur. It is a sobering feeling to come to terms with the fact that something or someone is truly in a better place without you in their life.”

Anthony DeMario commented on the concepts behind his writing/performance on the song -

“It’s a heavy feeling when you come to the realization that a routine you feel safe with is toxic because we are all resistant to change. This song is a perfect representation of that, and when writing for the part I wanted to bring the element of dealing with these mixed emotions, while still knowing that we can take control of our own lives with certain situations to change for the better.”

A Lifetime Spent in Gray was released independently in February of 2018.

It was recorded and produced by Seth Henderson (Knuckle Puck, Capstan, The Devil Wears Prada), and mastered by Kris Crummett.
